The Rhodiascit system--individual response to reinfusion possibly related to angiotensin sensitivity: preliminary results.

چکیده
Introduction The effectiveness of reinfusion of concentrated ascitic fluid (Rhodiascit system) in treatment of 'refractory ascites' is well established (L6vy et al., 1971). Besides this absolute indication its usefulness has been stressed in situations that require quick drying up of the ascites (Van Waes, van Quickenborne and Demeulenaere, 1973). Our experience with this technique has been previously reported (Van Waes and Demeulenaere, 1973; Van Waes et al., 1973). Attention has been drawn to the strikingly different individual response after this treatment. Purely symptomatic in some, reinfusion seems to induce more lasting effects in others, e.g. by restoring the lost equilibrium in acute decompensation upon a well defined and controllable cause; by reset of the sensitivity to diuretic treatment in patients who became refractory to it; perhaps by the possibility to increase the interval between subsequent reinfusions in absence of a significant variation in liver function. In this paper we shall only emphasize the immediate effects of reinfusion on diuresis and sodium excretion, and longterm behaviour of the patients after reinfusion.

Ascites reinfusion using Rhodiascit apparatus--clinical experience and coagulation abnormalities.
The results of twenty-four ascitic reinfusions in twenty patients, using the Rhodiascit procedure, are reported. The procedure was of no value in the management of patients with spontaneous functional renal failure, but was of considerable value in accelerating hospital discharge of patients with tense ascites but good renal function. Complications of the procedure were few, but tests of blood ...
متن کاملExperiences and problems in the management of ascites with the Rhodiascit machine.
The ascites reinfusion technique is an excellent therapeutic aid to patients with cirrhosis who are otherwise in good general condition. The loss of weight often exceeds the amount of filtrate considerably. The ratio between filtrate and concentrate may be increased by applying a filtration pressure of between 140 and 180 mmHg. This modification could result in shortening the procedure, if the ...
متن کاملAmygdala centralis cardiovascular response to angiotensin I microinjection in Goldblatt hypertensive rats
Previous studies have shown that induction of 2kidney -1clip Goldblatt hypertension (2K-1C) induction in rats eliminates hypertensive response after inactivating of the central nucleus of the amygdale (ACe). The present study investigated the possibility of alteration in local renin angiotensin system (RAS) activity in ACe after hypertension induction. Clamps were placed on the left renal arter...

متن کاملThe effect of progressive aerobic continuous training on angiotensin-1, angiotensin-2 and angiotensin-converting enzyme type 2 in patients with heart failure
Background: Chronic hypertension causes structural and functional changes in the heart, ultimately leading to heart failure (HF), which further increases mortality and morbidit. HF is a complex clinical syndrome caused by various structural or functional abnormalities of the heart that impair the filling capacity of the ventricles. The findings of various trials have shown the association betwe...
